Monday, Jan. 29, Embedded Fitness’ showroom was the scene for the opening of the Sports Innovator Center for Exercise in Education. Dozens of partners in attendance joined the conversation to spar about the future of movement in education.

The Sports Innovator Center for Exercise in Education is an initiative of Embedded Fitness and Janssen-Fritsen. The center is the meeting place of researchers, companies, governments and schools in primary and secondary education with the essence of improving (learning) performance and movement of young people. At the center, new innovations are being developed for movement education, as well as movement learning. Both sports facilities and the school setting itself can accommodate these new technological developments.

Exercise in education

The goal, of the Sports Innovator Center for Movement in Education, is to get education moving in the literal sense of the word. This should come about by applying sporting innovations in education. After all, sports are very important for children’s health, moreover, good health in turn contributes to good learning.

After an inspiring speech by Maurits Hendriks, former technical director of NOC*NSF, on the value of good and innovative movement education, it was the turn of the attendees to get to work themselves. During several brainstorming sessions, concrete ideas emerged that the Sports Innovator Center for Exercise in Education can build on.
