Over 1.3 million to excellent sports innovations
Minister Edith Schippers of VWS today announced the ideas, projects and centers from the first round of the ZonMw program Sportinnovator. Over 1.3 million euros has been distributed to organizations and companies that excel in the area of sports innovation. Commissioned by Minister Edith Schippers in 2015, the Top Team Sport held a rigorous selection: who will take sports innovation in the Netherlands to a higher level, ensure more medals and get more people moving? Today , 12 centers, five projects and 10 idea developers received an Sportinnovator award.
A total of 245,000 euros in the Sportinnovator program will go to ten ideas, 750,000 euros to five projects and 325,000 euros to 12 centers. The money will be used as co-financing. Together with companies, knowledge institutions, sports organizations and governments, the money will be used to boost sports innovations. Among the honored ideas, projects and centers, the ratio between the Sportinnovator grant and co-financing is about 1:5.
Embedded Fitness received an award for its idea Digigym makes fit and smart. The idea is to start using the Digiboard in the classroom for movement learning lessons, think of a trampoline on which counting games are done, a bicycle that allows you to cycle through countries and cities and interactive word games. But also, create your own movement game, so we bring together movement and technology.
Embedded Fitness plans to join forces with Janssen-Fritsen to promote innovation in exercise education. Over the next six months, the first concepts will be developed with the help of the grant.
