Starting from the fact that children have an intrinsic motivation to play and that moving learning increases learning performance, project partners Embedded Fitness and Sensor Partners previously realized an interactive play wall with the help of a CrossRoads2 grant.
Increase exercise challenge
By extending the product with an interactive floor, the two parties aim to make the motion component complete. Additional game elements such as jumping or local pressure can be incorporated into the existing interactive wall through the floor. Unlike commercial systems, this interactive floor will not be controlled from a projector, but will detect motion via a floor plate. This should ensure increased positional accuracy and ensure the affordability of the system. The interactive tiles to be developed should be switchable and extensible.
Also new games
New technology obviously means new applications, and so Embedded Fitness will also develop new e-games. For education, games with educational overtones are mainly. In healthcare, inciting movement is paramount. And children in special elementary education benefit extra from good movement skills. The games should enable movement from an intrinsic motivation. De spellen moeten beweging vanuit een intrinsieke motivatie mogelijk maken. Also, the games must fit within the curricula of elementary school (aiming, balancing) in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Sensor Partners from Flanders remains involved for hardware-related developments and becomes the structural supplier in the production of the final products.
About CrossRoads2
CrossRoads2 is a project within the European program Interreg Flanders-Netherlands. It aims to stimulate sustainable cross-border cooperation on promising innovation projects between SME/SME companies in Flanders and the southern Netherlands (Zeeland, North Brabant and Limburg). The project is aimed at companies with good, innovative and technically feasible project ideas that would like to cooperate with other SMEs across borders.
